- Keep the Scenic Rim Scenic :- website for the non-political group standing mining, coal seam gas and inappropriate development in the Scenic Rim Shire – part of the Mt Warning Caldera Region. “Arrow Energy has said it will drill in four Scenic Rim locations during the next few months. Some wells are in the final stage of exploration, at or near pre-production stage. Arrow has already ‘fracked’ at least one well in our Scenic Rim.“
- FRIENDS of the KOALA : Koala Carers and volunteer support for the KOALAS of the NORTHERN RIVERS, NSW. Koalas have almost disappeared from the Northern Rivers of NSW and the Gold Coast, Qld. This is directly due to Developers, Council approvals and State Governments being ill advised. The Federal Government has refused to list the KOALA as a threatened species. Meanwhile, despite the Koala having threatened status in NSW, the clearing of fragile remnant habitat that is ESSENTIAL FOR KOALA SURVIVAL is still currently underway, as I write this. (December 19th 2011). Clearing is now occurring in Kings Forest, Tweed Shire, with the approval of both the NSW State Government Political representatives and the individual Tweed Shire Councillors who have condoned and voted for the ongoing destruction of vital threatened species habitat – despite LAWS that have been created to protect this threatened species.
- Stop Kangaroo Killing : sign the Petition HERE !! :- Kangaroos and other macropods are slowly (and in some areas very quickly) disappearing from across all regions of Australia, including Queensland “Since 2001 Eastern Grey Kangaroo populations have crashed by 45% in some areas and up to 90% in others across 62% of the state” (from the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency, Macropod Management Unit) and New South Wales “Eastern Grey Kangaroos have been decimated by 50% across 85% of NSW” (from the NSW Kangaroo Management Program – Quota Report for 2008, NSW Department of Environment and Conservation)
